Amazon Kindle Phone to launch on September 6th?

Amazon may be launching its rumoured smartphone on September 6th after an invite went out to press today.

The invite from Amazon to press simply said: "Please join us for an Amazon Press Conference." Not giving much away, right?

So it could be for the long-awaited Kindle Fire 2. But with Foxconn manufacturing talking about work on a Kindle Phone and Amazon recently hiring a former Windows App Store director – we’re inclined to think phone.

With Apple unveiling the iPhone 5 on Septmebr 12th and Samsung revealing the Galaxy Note 2 next week at IFA, it seems like Amazon could be in for a rough ride on its maiden phone outing.
