2011 in tech – September
September bought a rush of launches and unveilings – Microsoft launched Windows Phone Mango into the world, bringing with it more interactive live tiles, Twitter and LinkedIn notifications and Bing music recognition. HTC got in on the Mango action with its Titan smartphone, featuring a whopping 4.7in screen.
Still, the Titan wasn't the biggest smartphone unveiled in September – Samsung proved size matters with its enormous 5.3in Galaxy Note smartphone. It wasn't all about scaling up, though, as Sammy also revealed its scaled-down Galaxy Tab 7.7.
Elsewhere, HTC served up Beats Audio goodness with its updated Sensation XE. And Amazon entered the tablet market all guns blazing, with its competitively-priced Kindle Fire throwing down the gauntlet to Apple's iPad.
But the most exciting news of September saw Nike going Back to the Future, reviving the Air Mag sneaker design from Back to the Future II for a limited edition run to support the Michael J Fox Foundation. Great Scott!
