Smack My Bitch Up (The Prodigy, 1997)
Banned everywhere, but MTV finally agreed to show The Prodigy’s distrubing vision of drug and booze-fuelled domestic violence, if only after midnight. There was a wicked twist for those who stayed up to watch it.

That "Smack My Bitch Up" video is still an edited version. After pulling the guy from the cubicle, she injects heroin in the uncut version.

That song will always remind me of a trip to Alton Towers in the Boys Club Landrover, soundtracked by a Top 40 tape recording with that on it.

Erykah Badu has often been compared to jazz great Billie Holiday, though I would say her style is on the contemporary styles of the genres soul and hip hop and it sends out a deeper message as opposed to common R&B music. She’s signed on to quite a few record companies throughout her music career, and I would say, been pretty successful.
