Olympus SZ-30 takes 16MP photos and Full HD movies… at the same time

The new Super Zoom bridge camera is one heck of a multi-tasking snapper

The new Olympus SZ-30 is the first camera to take photos and Full HD movies simultaneously.

The 16MP images and 1080p video footage are captured on the same sensor, but handled by two separate processors.

So while you’re shooting video of your kiddie’s school nativity play you can also take that perfect pic of them poking their crook into the Christmas lobster’s left ear.

The SZ-30 is also equipped with a pretty serious 24x zoom lens with a 25-600mm range – and, of course, dual image stabilisation to stop everything getting too blurry.

It’ll be available for £300 from late April.
