Nintendo 3DS firmware update put on hold till December

First a mahoosive price slash, now its firmware update has been delayed. Sort it out, Ninty

Nintendo 3DS gamers who have been impatiently waiting for the planned November firmware update to land have been dealt a hard blow today - the update isn't coming this month. Instead, the update has been pushed back to December 8 – a day before the purported release date of the Asus Optimus Transformer Prime – much to the frustration of 3DS fanboys. It would appear Nintendo needs more time to get the update in tip-top shape for release.

While the Japanese gaming behemoth has stated that it is "sorry for the inconvenience", it means 3DS gamers are being made to hold out for recording and watching back 3D video, adding extra games for StreetPass Miis and transfering data between multiple devices. So, while the update isn't exactly on the verge of delivering a set of groundbreaking new features, it is set to enhance Ninty's handled gaming experience.

This snag in the schedule means Nintendo 3DS owners should refrain from checking their devices for updates until December and while waiting, it's worth checking out what we made of Nintendo's third dimensional gamer in our review.
