Napster predicts best of 2007

It’s that time of year again. Which band will ‘do a Monkeys’ and have the biggest breakthrough hit of the year? Who will end up in rehab before festival season even starts? And will so-called ‘new rave’ take off, or is it just another pseudo-genre invented by the NME to shift more copies of its indie comic?

Who knows? Well, Napster thinks it does, as evidenced by its ‘Tips for 2007’ on the Napster jukebox. The 28-strong list covers dance, pop, indie, rock, folk and everything in between with special interest to be paid to Klaxons, Cold War Kids and Fields.

Pick of the bunch, however, is MSTRKRFT, who much like the vowel-unfriendly chaps at Motorola, don’t deal in those five special letters. What they do deal in is awesome electro remixes of bands like Bloc Party, Buck 65, Wolfmother and Metric (another group to watch for 2007). Founder member Jesse Keeler was also one half of Death From Above 1979, whose album You’re a Woman, I’m a Machine was way out in front as one of my favourite records of 2004, so i'm expecting good things.

If you want a taste of what’ll be filling those ‘Best of 2007’ lists come the end of the year, head on over to the ‘FFWD’ section of Napster’s jukebox.

In the meantime, here’s that list in full:
