So, day one at Mobile World Congress and thanks to Sony Ericsson’s early bird approach its stand was high on my list of priorities – and everybody else’s too.The two new Cyber-shots are probably the biggest news with the 5megapixel C902 (pictured) just edging it by a nose. Like Samsung’s G800 or the LG Viewty it’s feature set wouldn’t look out of place on a digital compact. There’s no optical zoom but it does pack in face detection, auto focus, auto rotate, red-eye reduction and 16x digital zoom. The lens is also hidden by a slide-out cover – a bit like the Samsung i70 digicam. That’s not to say the C702 is lagging behind. Designed for rugged, outdoor types its dust and splash proof and allows tagging of snaps with its built-in GPS. The sensor is slightly smaller at 3.2MP but it still boasts face detection and auto focus.I’ll have more on Sony Ericsson other newbies later today, including its new W980 Walkman phone and touchscreen G-series duo.
