Motorola outs special edition Aura Celestial Edition

Motorola has launched a special edition of its already rather exclusive Aura handset, in celebration of the company's role in the first Moon landing.

The idea for the moon-themed Aura Celestial Edition was apparently sparked from the fact that it was Motorola's radio transponder on the Apollo 11 that beamed back the first words and TV signals from the moon to Earth.

The phone features exclusive, original NASA content from the moon content, including video footage and stills, as well as sound files with those memorable lines like "That's one small step for man, on giant leap for mankind" packed in as well.

The phone is also etched with "Motorola AURA Celestial Edition, Honouring the Apollo 11 mission, 20th July 1969", and comes with nine specially commissioned postcards and a presentation box.

The Aura Celestial Edition goes on sale in early July. We're still awaiting pricing deets, but with the original Aura costing well over £1,000 – expect to pay a pretty penny for this special edition.
