You've got to hand it to Steve Jobs – not content with fusing the iPod, a phone and t'internet, he's pulled another rabbit out of his iPhone-shaped hat with news that major games developers would be working on dedicated versions of a raft of games for the Jesus Phone.
The inclusion of EA and Sega demoing Spore and Super Monkey Ball at the recent iPhone SDK indicated that Jobs has mobile gaming set firmly in his sights. And now Gameloft, the leading developer of games for mobile phones (including Assassin's Creed and Prince of Persia) has confirmed that it will be developing "over 15 mobile games" for 2008.
The games will be developed using the iPhone SDK and sold through the new App Store arriving with the iPhone 2.0 software update in June.
And what's this? John Carmack, co-founder of ID Games has hinted that some of his company's content would be heading iPhone's way too: "This type of developer/customer interaction is probably the wave of the future for mobile devices."
An official Doom release for iPhone? Please, God, say it's so...
