Microsoft’s first Windows 10 smartphone is slated to land on 19 October

Alongside the Surface Pro 4 and Band 2, no less

Microsoft’s upcoming Lumia 940 is rumoured to be the best Windows Phone yet, and it’ll apparently be revealed on 19 October, according to the latest online whispers.

The Lumia 940 is expected to mark the debut of Windows 10 on a smartphone – arguably Microsoft’s last chance to grab any thunder away from its giant iOS and Android rivals.

The handset itself will also pack in some tasty specs too, if past rumours prove to be true. Those include a Snapdragon 810 processor, 3GB of RAM, and a 5.7in 2K screen, all wrapped up in a polycarbonate shell.

A 20MP camera, iris scanner and USB Type-C port are also all on the cards, though we’ll have to wait for anything official before we drool over the specs too much.

The same event could also see the reveal of the Microsoft surface Pro 4, as well as the unveiling of the Microsoft Band 2 fitness tracker.

That’s all the information we have for the time being, but we expect invitations to fly out in the near future, so stay tuned.
