Microsoft is taking its fight with Google out onto the streets. Your street to be exact – if you live in London (or Paris, Barcelona, New York, San Francisco, etc). Yesterday Navteq cars starting collecting 360 degree photos of London streets for Microsoft Streetside on Bing Maps, Redmond’s answer to Streetview on Google Maps.
Unlike Streetview, the Streetside project is collecting information on landmarks, pubs and shopfronts, with a view to making it easier to check in using apps like Foursquare, or share places on Twitter.
The UK images should hit Bing Maps in the second week of May.
