We've heard about the Zune "Pink" phone, but now the web rumour mill is going into overdrive with talk of Microsoft's apparent plans to unveil a Zune phone at CES in January.
According to the chaps at Wired over in the States, a well–placed analyst reckons Steve Ballmer will take the stage on 7 January and announce the new cell to the world. Rather than being a full touchscreen effort, it will take its cue from the super–successful (in the US anyway) Sidekick.
This fits in neatly with the "Pink" rumours that were doing the rounds back in November. There's little more to go on, other than that the phone will have an accelerometer and take its cue from the Zune's rather neat software.
A summer release of a Zune phone would tie it in nicely with the planned unveiling of Windows Mobile 7, meaning they could dominate the news agenda around the same time Apple updates the iPhone again. Either way, all will be revealed in a sweaty conference hall in early January.
