Microsoft dual-screen smartphone patent surfaces

Okay, this phone might not get made but we like the thinking: two screens are better than one

It's not just Apple clutching exciting little diagrams in the queue at the patent office. Microsoft is joining in with the fun too with this dual-screen concept phone. You can slide the phone apart to split the two screens of the device, so this isn't just a smaller version of the Sony S2 Android tablet, due in September. The smaller screen will play Robin to the big screen's Batman – acting as a remote control for anything from video calls to watching movies, and it could take on virtual QWERTY keyboard and gaming control roles when joined back up to the main phone. Presumably it'd be based around Windows Phone 8. One for the wishlist.
