Earlier today, Steve Ballmer made a speech at the Executive's Club of Chicago that seemed to confirm rumours we heard earlier in the week, that we'd see a new Xbox 360 in 2010, complete with integrated Natal technology.

However, Kotaku got on the phone to Microsoft's Director of Product Management for Xbox 360 and Xbox Live Aaron Greenberg, and got a much firmer answer to what we've had previously.

"There will be no new console," he said.

He continued: "We're not going to be launching a new console any time soon. We're happy with the Xbox 360, so there are no changes from that standpoint.

Commenting on what seemed to be Ballmer's slip of the tongue, Greenberg said: "I really believe he was speaking about Project Natal."

He did admit however that Microsoft had looked into putting the hands-free motion controller tech into a new Xbox, but that nothing has been confirmed or announced as yet.

As always, we'll keep you updated with any new details we get.
