Microsoft brings full web browsing to mobiles

Pin-striped business types rejoiced yesterday as Microsoft announced a stack of new updates to Windows Mobile, including full desktop-style web browsi

As part of its new version of the portable OS (version 6.1) Internet Explorer Mobile will add the ability to check out full-screen web pages and even YouTube videos or vidcasts with support for Flash and H.264 video. Take that, iPhone.

Other additions include threaded text messaging a la instant messengers, better mapping and guidance through Windows Live Search, and simpler initial setup and Bluetooth pairing.

Windows Mobile 6.1 will be available by the end of 2008 on a whole raft of smartphones including the HTC TyTN II (pictured) and Sony Ericsson's highly anticipated Xperia X1 that had us all salivating at Mobile World Congress in February.
