3D printing is going to change the world, if its cheerleaders are to be believed.
Unfortunately, not all of us are talented enough to conjure up creations using CAD software – that's where MakerBot's new Digitzer comes in.
It's a laser scanner that the 3D printer manufacturer is touting as "the easiest, fastest way for anyone to create 3D models." Naturally, the Digitizer is also optimised for compatibility with MakerBot's own Replicator 3D printers.
Pop an object on it, scan it in – MakerBot claims it's a two-click process – and it'll spit out a 3D design file that's compatible with third-party 3D modelling programs.
Pricing has yet to be revealed, but you'll be able to buy one from next week on the official Makerbot site. And if you fancy getting in on the 3D printing action yourself, you can enter our competition to win a 3D printer.
