A few weeks ago I frightened Stuff’s Adam on the podcast with tales of my military training. You see, I’d been down to Warfighters in Northamptonshire to be trained as a Ghost Recon “Ghost”. Driving tanks and shooting sniper rifles and wading through streams (if you want to know more about this, download the video from the Frag Dolls UK section of Xbox Live, or from MySpace)
Last weekend I got another chance to live out my soldiering fantasies when I donned my camo face paint again at Fuse 06.
Fuse 06 was a fantastic fusion of music, gaming, tournaments and of course warfighting, held at Newbury Racecourse. I was outside in the GRAW arena handing out guns to the punters and running them around tanks and humvees, fighting each other with laser rifles. While inside Jam and Sarin were all toasty and warm, drinking, socialising and dancing. They'll tell you they were running about interviewing bands and tournament winners but they are full of lies and deceit those two.
When I'd ran all the punters ragged, I went inside just in time to see the finals of the tourny on the 75 foot projection screen - and got to see the headline act, Skindred. They were amazing. My Warfighter staff friends got in the mosh pit and seemed to have a great old time. I'm not sure they really understood what a moshpit was. Suffice to say one of my gamer friends now has a fractured rib. *sigh* I just can't take them anywhere! To check out some of our coverage of Fuse, click here
