TomTom cosies up to the iPhone with new app

08 Jun 2009

iPhone users that haven't forked out for a sat nav just yet may want to hold off a minute and save themselves some dough.

TomTom has just announced an iPhone app due this summer, that will give users all the major TomTom features in the iPhone interface.

Turn by turn directions and text-to-speech capability certainly gives the current Google Maps a run for its money, but it is the additional TomTom car accessory that will make the iPhone a true sat nav contender.

As a windshield mount it will allow you to have it in portrait or landscape mode, but more interestingly it will also provide enhanced GPS performance, handsfree calling, charging, and allow you to play your iPhone music through your car stereo.

There were no prices announced for the app or the mount, but we'll get them to you when we have it.

In the meantime, be sure to check out all the official specs of the new iPhone 3G S and let us know if you'll be forking out the cash for it.
