Stuff Awards '09 - who won?
The annual Stuff Awards took place last night at the rather lovely Dorchester Hotel on Park Lane, and as usual, it was an evening where gadget dreams were made... and broken.
As expected, Apple did well, leaving with PMP of the Year for the iPod touch and Phone of the Year with the iPhone 3G S, which also proved popular with you guys, as it also picked up the Readers’ Gadget of the Year. Way to go Apple.
However, we couldn’t ignore the bold attempts from HTC to take Apple’s crown, and the Hero won our panel judged Gadget of the Year.
Elsewhere in the awards, Fujifilm picked up the Innovation award for its mind boggling FinePix Real 3D W1, and Spotify swooped in for the Audio Gadget of the Year, collected by the lovely Roberta from Spotify herself.
To find out the full list of winners, catch some videos of the night and find out who won the other two readers’ categories, get yourself over to our awards microsite, and then get to fighting it out over who should’ve won what and who was robbed below. Keep it clean people.

finepix 3D innovatite and mind boggling, have you gone mad !!! its not the 1st 3D camera (might be 1st digi) an its not going to become common place, whats mind boggling about putting 2 chips in 1 camera body !!!
there's not really been anything exceptionally outstanding in the gadget world for a few years just certain things are more popular as the prices drop, we need the next evolution in technology but we're years away from that

Sorry you don't agree stevie1741 - it certainly is the first 3D digital camera, and when I played with it, it was the first time I'd seen anything 3D without wearing stupid glasses so I thought it was pretty special.
You're probably right, it isn't going to become common place, but I think it winning the Innovation of the Year award was more than fair. Have you had chance to actually have a go with one?

I agree with Verity that being innovative doesn't not always mean it transcribes to being popular or successful - See the Sinclair C5 for proof of this. I think the Xbox Natal might stand a chance of doing all of the above next year though

That being said, I can't believe World at War won game of the year, it's like saying Police Acadamy 26 should get an oscar for being the same as the previous 25

I have to say i don't agree about the ipod touch, the first gen two years ago OK, but i would definitely say the sony walkman X series.

Just my opinion but. . . . . Apples ipod + iphone totally deserve to be up there in the awards. I am an Apple fan but also have been a Sony fan for years, and if I had to compare the two then I'd put Apple on top because they have more apparent passion for what they produce. Sony is maybe a bit more detached about what they produce. After all Apple made the ipod touch +iphone first, the others are still playing catchup with their copies. Other manufactures may have some better features, but as a package, use an ipod/iphone people have them in their pockets for a good reason. They work so so well. Having said all that, I'm still a sony buyer/fan.
