iPhone app of the day: Shazam
You might already know of Shazam, a mobile phone service that will listen to any music playing and text you back with the name of the song (as long as it's one of the 4million on its database).
The Shazam iPhone app ups the ante with a neat graphical user interface and links that allow you to use your iPhone to immediately download the track from iTunes or watch it on YouTube.
The whole process, from launching the app to finding the name of your song, takes about 10-15 seconds, as you can see from the video below.
Simple stuff, but brilliantly implemented. And because its an application of its own, it doesn't require calling or text messages - it's all done via Wi-Fi or 3G.
The great news is that Shazam is a free app, too - but only for a limited period. So if you have an iPhone, rush along to the iTunes Appstore and download it now.

It's totally free to use at the moment, I can't see how they'd charge for the service, only for the app.

I have tried this. It doesn't quite work with electro house. The song tags it gives are totally wrong !
