iPhone 3G suffering from connection nightmares?

Reports across the net today suggest Apple’s wonder blower might not be as awesome as we first thought.
The iPhone 3G has had it’s fair share of issues since it landed in our laps just over a month ago, but leaving aside MobileMe woes, it looks as if the 3G connection itself is now suffering.
According to Electric Pig, some US punters have found the connection dropping out, even when they’re standing in one place.
To make matters worse, analysts reckon the issue is with the 3G chip itself, rather than the phone, meaning any sort of firmware update wouldn’t fix the issue.

I have had lots of problems with my browser closing down and certain apps crashing. Also had problems with sluggish keyboards and scrolling. My signal is also not very strong in most places. I thought the last update had fixed these but a couple of days after updating the dreaded problems returned. This is my second phone because my first one completly crashed out. I don't know wether to do the same with this one?

My original iPhone gave me no problems at all other than the speaker giving out but the handset was replaced straight away by Apple and I had no other problems. But since getting my iPhone 3G it has been nothing but trouble, it crashes ever 5 minutes, apps work as and when they feel like it, everything is now very slow to open and as matt869 above i frequently get very sluggish typing and no recognition on the touch screen. I'm getting fed up with it if I'm honest and back to looking at Sony Ericssons! They should have left it as it was but the shine has definitely worn off mine already.
