09 Sep 2008

A quick hands–on with the new iPod Touch. It's so much thinner than the original and looks great as ever. We'll be bringing you a full video review soon, so keep it here for updates. And check out the live blog for the action as it happened.

JayJay92 I can assure you it's much thinner. Sadly I didn't have a first gen one to hand to compare. Cheers Joe

No one seems to have picked up the fact that the body is now made from polished stainless steel!  This is way harder than All the previous soft aluminum shells gone before, so it will scratch much less! And polished will be brighter, more like Chrome!     Rif

On the built in speaker.........sometimes a small speaker is all you need.  I use a soundtraveller k3000 (the small one) placed close to my head when I read, for a bit of (quite detailed) background music, on low volume.( I find headphones intrusive reading)  It works BRILLIANTLY when you accept it's limitations. Will the built in ipod speaker rival this?  In fact will it rival the iphone speakers? (they sound OK)  I hope so, I'll probably get one (ipod) anyway.     p.s. what I need is a 32gb iphone with no min £10 monthly 3g charge !!!!!!!   keep up the good work stuff, NEVER missed a podcast yet.   Rif
