Gadget of the Day – Firewinder

While there may not be plenty of sunshine at the moment, there's certainly plenty of everything else – including the odd spot of wind.

The Firewinder is a helical windmill that uses the energy it generates to power its 14 ultra bright white LEDs. An asthmatic puff of 3mph is all that is needed to set it spinning, and glowing.

All you need is a handy wall or post in a suitably windy location, and with the supplied aluminium brackets you'll be admiring your new garden feature quicker than you can say Alan Titchmarsh.

You can get one in light olive, dark olive or black. So it won't scare the wildlife or offend the neighbours.
