For the price of an iPad...

Onza Uno Deco

So you're thinking of buying an iPad, eh?

Why not take a step back and think about what else you could be spending all that cash on. For £429 – the price of the lowest spec 16GB WiFi iPad – you could get:

1 shiny new bike – Onza Uno Deco £427.49
www.wiggle.co.uk
Onza's stylish singlespeed is the perfect steed for zipping around town in style, and rather than spending all day browsing the net on your iPad while sitting on the sofa, you might even get fit.

9 iPod shuffles £46

Okay, so quite why you'd want nine iPod shuffles, we don't know (how many ears do you have?!), but you could have nine of these little beauties instead of that jumped-up tea tray, and still soothe your Apple gland.

3.5 years Spotify premium subscription £9.99/month
www.spotify.com
We know you're a materialistic sort, but we have a hunch you like the odd tune, too. How about 3.5 YEARS of lovely, ad-free music?

11 years' Stuff Magazine subscription £38/yr
www.themagazineshop.com

We had to slip this in, didn't we? More than a decade of Stuff magazines, that's 132 issues of gorgeous gadget goodness.

1 DSLR camera – Nikon D5000 £429
www.jessops.co.uk
Admit it, you've been thinking about getting a 'proper' camera for a while now. The D5000 is a fine choice, and an extra £50 gets you a 18-55mm lens (that's still less than the 32GB WiFi iPad)

1 PS3 Slim 250GB with Uncharted 2: Among Thieves £269.99
PLUS
1 Black Nintendo Wii with Wii Sports and Wii Sports Resort £149.99
www.play.com
You like games? You can get a PS3 Slim with the BAFTA award-winning Uncharted 2, along with everyone's favourite party package in black.

If all that's not enough to coax you away from your impending purchase, then there's just no help for you. Enjoy your new iPad!

None of these are "magical and revolutionary". Sorry.

"So you're thinking of buying an iPad, eh?" No, I'm thinking that I wish iStuff would stop going on about the iPad every five minutes.

Stairmand: Ha! I agree... Came back from US last week and was willing to buy one if it was half decent. Some american friends had one and I used it for a few hours. The lack of flash really is annoying. It's also quite heavy. And it's not as comfortable on the lap as a laptop! Just not for me...
