Firefox mobile lands at last

12 Feb 2009

Firefox mobile, Fennec to those in the know, has just landed on the HTC Touch Pro, as promised by Mozilla back in January. While it's still not quite the done deal, it should give WinMo punters a good idea of what we can expect when it launches properly, later this year.

According to Unwired View, the newly released edition doesn't pack soft keyboard support, is only designed for 300 dpi screens and doesn't offer auto updates. But that's the kind of pain we're willing to take if it means we can be he first to play with it.

We're hoping to see more of Fennec at MWC next week. What do you think? Can Firefox's mobile cousin change the way we browse on the move? Tell us down below in the comments section.

Why is this better than the supplied Opera though?

I think it's more to do with choice. Plus it offers tabs a la Firefox. I find Opera really temperamental on every device I use it on, from my N95 8GB through to my W595. Looking forward to giving Fennec a whirl next week at MWC.
