This 2.5 gigapixel panorama from the top of the Burj Khalifa is making us dizzy

28 Jan 2013

Remember Tom Cruise's death-defying climb up the Burj Khalifa in Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol? Well, now you can see just what he was looking at from the top of the world's tallest building in that infamous promo shot – with the help of this dizzying 2.5 gigapixel snap. Frankly it's making us a bit queasy – don't look down.

The photo has been released to celebrate the second Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Photography Award (HIPA), which takes place in Dubai this March – it's made up of 48 panoramic 80MP images taken by photographer Gerald Donovan, stitched together to create a fully-controllable panorama.

Now if you'll excuse us, we're off for a bit of a lie down.
