Steve Jobs resigns as Apple CEO
Within weeks of the expected iPhone 5 announcement Apple CEO Steve Jobs has resigned.
The surprising announcement came from Jobs himself, who circulated a memo saying he could no longer meet his "duties and expectations as Apple's CEO."
Tim Cook, currently COO (chief operating officer) at the company, will step up to Apple's top job, with Jobs hoping to stay on the board in a non-exec role.
Steve Jobs is widely credited with turning around Apple's fortunes. He brought the company back from the brink of collapse when he was rehired in 1996. He has since been the driving force behind such products as the iMac, the iPod, the iPhone and iPad.
The 56 year old was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2003, and had a liver transplant in 2009. Declining health is the prime suspect in Jobs' decision to step down.

well he has stepped down as CEO. not resigned. he will still have involvement in the day to day running of apple. but not the reigns of the company.
i bet he will doing the launch of iphone 5. but i think he needs a rest good on him. geniuses cant work all the year round they do need rest.
