Icon – BMW i8 Spyder 2012 concept
That is one nice looking set of wheels
Isn't it just? Shame about the dodgy spelling though. Still, the sleek streamlined chassis coupled with up-swinging gullwing doors make for a car that's as easy on the eyes at it is on the environment.
Come again?
The BMW i8 Spyder is a hybrid with a 129hp electric motor driving the front wheels and a three-cylinder turbo petrol engine sending 220bhp to the back axle. All that results in 349bhp, a top speed of 155mph and a 0-62mph time of five seconds. A two hour charge will provide 19 miles of pure leccy power, and the battery will recharge on the go every time you coast or cruise to a stop
Sold.
Not yet it isn't. BMW's convertible hybrid roller won't be out till at least 2014. Look on the bright side though, you can save up a few extra pennies for some go-faster stripes and hi-tech speed holes. Science be praised.
