Icon – Infiniti Emerg-E
Looks electrifying…
The Emerg-E moves like greased lightning, too. Its 402bhp twin electric motors produce a whopping 737.6 lb-ft of torque, propelling it from 0-60mph in just four seconds – and it'll go from 0-130mph in 30 seconds.
There has to be a downside.
Nope – it's environmentally friendly, producing just 55g/km of CO2 when it's using its twin electric motors in conjuction with its 1.2l, three-cylinder range extending motor. And although the Emerg-E is light – just 1,600kg, thanks to its carbon-fibre skin and aluminium chassis – it'll manage 30 miles on battery power alone. With the petrol motor on, the Emerg-E will manage 300 miles on a single tank of fuel.
Well, I'm happ-E. Where do I sign up?
You'll have to wait a bit to get your hands on an Emerg-E, but Infiniti's taking reservations ahead of first deliveries for 2013. Better start saving your pennies, though – although pricing has yet to be revealed, the Emerg-E's set to be the "most expensive" car in Infiniti's line-up.
