Here comes the iMac Smudge

iMac G5

[intro]More unsubstantiated Apple rumblings: a new iMac is on the way, and it could be touch sensitive[/intro]

I'm a sucker for Apple rumours any time, but it just so happens I'm in the market for a replacement for my current iMac G5. With Adobe Creative Suite 3 waiting in the wings, there's now no reason not to upgrade to Intel.

Oh wait, no, there is: whispers of a new new new new iMac. By which I mean fourth generation. after the bondi blue, anglepoise and slabular iMacs.

The rumourmongers at AppleInsider to have info about a new design project led by everyone's favourite industrial designer Johnny Ive. The new "slimmer and sleeker" iMacs would only be available in 20 and 24inch models and the focus would be on "hardware side complements to the company's next-generation operating system" and "high-definition digital media". What that means is anyone's guess, but it could include a Blu-Ray drive and/or a touch-sensitive interface (As I've mentioned before).

Oh, and it might come in black.

Please Apple, can I have one now?

    I have dreams about an Ive classic - a 32 inch iMac that's less than 1 inch thin . . . Blu-Ray, Front Row 2, lovely!

I can hardly wait for CS3, yeah CS2 runs on my MacBook Pro, but it ain't pretty, lots of pauses whilst things transcode and massive memory usage. However, if the Photoshop CS3 beta is anything to go by, everything will just fly when the Intel native CS3 arrives!

CS3 looks awesome and Adobe say it has all been optimized for Intel & Leopard.
