And so all the way back in 1879 for the Anglo-Zulu war. Specifically the Battle of Rorke's Drift where a heavily outnumbered group are set upon by a huge Zulu contingent. Michael Caine plays against type as a plummy-voiced British officer in an early role, and Welshmen sing.

    Casualties Of War should be in there. The tension is electric and the film is barely watchable in parts. The subject matter, American war crimes, meant it would never get the Hollywood treatment but it made it a better film, Totally absorbing, it'll have you on the edge of your seat throughout.

    For myself, A Bridge Too Far‬ will always be my all time No 1. But Kelly's Hero's is still a entertaining romp.
