A new addition to the LG Cookie range has been pulled out fresh from the oven today under the rather fitting moniker of the LG Cookie Fresh, also known as the GS290 to its mum.

From the spec sheet, it seems the Cookie Fresh will be aimed at the budget end of the market, while still offering the consumer favourites like a touchscreen and social networking integration.

The Cookie Fresh packs a 3-inch resistive touchscreen display, 2-megapixel camera, Bluetooth connectivity, Facebook and Twitter clients and push email support.

If you’re a mobile internet fanatic though, you probably won’t be impressed by the lack of 3G or Wifi connectivity – you’ll in fact have to make to with EDGE, for all your browsing needs.

However it really does seem that this handset is aimed at those with the most basic phone needs, and we’d expect to see this crop up in PAYG territory rather than on contract.

The Cookie Fresh will launch this month in a choice of ten colours, but no prices have been confirmed as yet.
