We can’t imagine a scenario in which we would have to download 250 Blu-Ray discs in a single second, but there’s some good news for those of you with an insatiable lust for data transfer. Research teams have recently managed to send more than 100 terabits of data down a single length of optical fibre by using a whole host of bandwidth-enhancing laser light voodoo magic. Or science. Either way, it’s best not to get our hopes up as this kind of tech is still a long way off from entering our everyday lives. Still, progress is progress and we urge eggheads the world over to continue in their battle of oneupmanship.
