With the stupidly addictive app store on the iPhone and iPod Touch filling up with tonnes of new apps every week it can be difficult to keep track of the best ones - and that's where we here at Stuff.tv come in to help out as we dish out the accolade of our app of the week.
Already there's been a huge amount of racing games on the app store. Most have you tilting the whole device to navigate round corners, all with varying degrees of success, and to be quite honest, most are a bit rubbish.
SlotZ Racer is a tad different though, and if you've ever picked up a Scalextric controller you'll feel right at home here. It recreates the experience of those Sunday afternoons spent piecing together track pieces and willing your car to go around corners without flinging off and hitting the dog.
Might sound a bit dull since all you're doing is using the accelerator - but it's surprisingly good fun, and for the budget price of only £1.79 it packs in some really rather cool features. Using the multi-touch capabilities it lets 4 players all play together on a single device, which works better than you might expect. There's also a really in-depth track editor included, meaning you you've got a huge range of options when it comes to tracks to race on.
It's not going to be any competition for Need for Speed as a racer when that's released for the iPhone and iPod Touch later in the year, but for now it really offers something a little bit different - and should keep you entertained during that morning commute.
