Well, we’ll know soon enough the rock-solid details of the iPhone 5 – indeed, if there is an iPhone 5. And the iPhone 4S, too, if this last-dash rumour is to be believed.
An anonymous source has spilled his beans in the Guardian’s direction to reveal that “there will be two devices, we will put our pricing in to Apple as soon as Tim Cook goes on stage and we hope to get agreement to announce prices on Thursday.”
The source also confirmed that the new Apple phones – expected to the be iPhone 5 and iPhone 4S – will ship on October 14, with Apple’s Stores opening their doors at 7am to welcome shoppers who queue overnight. Looks like our intrepid first man in the iPhone 5 queue won’t have to camp out over Christmas, then.
It’s also thought the new Apple smartphones will be available through all five major UK networks, with Carphone Warehouse and Phones 4u also stocking the iPhone 5 and iPhone 4S handsets. Expect an unlocked iPhone 4S to cost £612 (32GB). A SIM-free price for the iPhone 5 is yet to be ventured, though we’re expecting Apple’s new smartphone to be available for around £36/month on a two-year contract.
