It looks like Apple is gunning for an iPad 3 with the highest-resolution display we've seen on tablets – the long rumoured spec is a 2048x1536 display with CNET reporting that we should expect a whopping 264ppi, double what we saw on the iPad 2 and edging closer towards the iPhone 4's 326ppi Retina Display.
And remember to keep your sunglasses to hand because the iPad 3's screen could be pumping out a brightness of 500 nits, compared to a 350 nits average for laptops. Not content to be outdone, Samsung has just revealed a 10.1in LCD panel at the FPD expo in Japan, that could be used in future Galaxy Tabs. And according to Tech On, it can display 2560x1600 HD video.
So 2012 looks set to be a pretty dense year for tablet displays – stay tuned to Stuff.tv for all the latest news.
