iMac with TV functionality is one step closer to the Apple telly

One small step for Apple, one giant step for couch-potato kind

Brian Blair – the analyst who correctly predicted the release of the iPhone 4S – has stated that Apple will add TV functionality to the iMac before going all out and creating a fully-fledged set of its own.

The new iMac lineup is expected to drop in the first half of 2012 with Apple TV software and iCloud features already baked in.

We also wouldn't be too surprised to see Siri thrown in for good measure – another rumour that has been doing the rounds. Apple's virtual assistant has already been shown strutting its stuff as a TV remote control, thanks to hackers.
