Icon – Leica V-Lux 30

Leica class, Swiss Army knife features. The veteran German camera folk are up to their usual (delightful) tricks

Another camera? Hardly an icon

Silence yourself and stop this heresy. No Leica is ever “just another camera” and the V-Lux 30 is no exception. Featuring Leica’s classically elegant minimalist styling and available with a timeless tan leather case, this matt black point-and-shoot will turn more heads than your paltry “deep” shots of a plastic bag floating in the wind.

Looks aren’t everything, you know

The V-Lux 30 has as much brain as beauty. For starters, it features a 14.1MP sensor, 16x optical zoom and a generously sized touchscreen for idiot-proof operation. Full HD video recording, a stereo 3D picture mode, GPS tagging and an electronic wind-noise filter are also packed into the svelte 33mm body.

Okay, you’ve convinced me. How soon can they take my money?

Glad you’ve seen the light. Expect to fork out £550 for the V-Lux 30 and an extra £80 for the leather case. They’re both out in June, so there’s still a bit of time to scrounge around the back of the sofa for those all important pennies.
