The Huawei Ascend Y530 wants to impress your grandma

Huawei's latest smartphone boasts two home screens – one for you, and one for non-tech-savvy users

Huawei’s new Y530 might not set your tech-loving heart racing with its specs, but it does aim to make life a little easier for those who can’t separate their Androids from their Apples.

The Y530 runs Android 4.3 Jelly Bean and offers users with a choice of two Android interfaces. The first will be familiar to any gadgeteer worth their weight in smartphones, as it’s the traditional Android interface (skinned with Huawei’s Emotion UI).

The second option is Huawei’s Simple Android Interface which is aimed at first time smartphone users. It’s got colourful, enlarged icons to help differentiate between the most important functions.

Specs-wise, it’s got a 4.5in (ppi fans look away now) 854×480 display, a 5MP camera, 4GB of expandable storage and a 1700mAh battery.

You can snap one up from Argos now for £150, or wait for the white version to hit the Carphone Warehouse in March.
