HTC Tattoo does Android on a budget

HTC certainly does seem to be leaning towards Android as its OS of choice recently, and the announcement of the HTC Tattoo adds another handset to its

The Tattoo will be the second HTC handset to pack the HTC Sense UI after the Hero, and will be completely customisable – everything from its buying new covers to suit your style, to personalising your home screen with widgets and applications.

Looking to retain as many Hero-esque features as possible but with a cheaper price tag, the Tattoo will boast a 2.8 QVGA touchscreen, 3.2 megapixel camera, microSD card slot and the oft-seen trio of Wi-fi, HSDPA and GPS.

Of course, as you'd expect from an Android phone the Tattoo packs the best of Google's mobile services, including Maps and Mail, and has access to the Android Marketplace for choosing new apps and games.

The HTC Tattoo is set to hit shelves next months in October, the same time as the first pay-as-you go Android phone, T-Mobile's Pulse.

Check out our hands on video with the Pulse to see if a PAYG Android could work for you, but keep it locked to for a video with the HTC Tattoo shortly.
