The HTC One (M8) is the new best phone in the world

HTC emerges victorious as the One M8 slips into its well-deserved crown at the top of Stuff's Top 10 smartphones

The HTC One (M8) has earned a well-deserved five stars in Stuff’s full in-depth review, and the handset is now sitting pretty at the top of the Top 10 best smartphones list.

Praised for its solid more-metal-than-ever build and blazing-fast innards, the One M8 had some stiff competition in the LG G2 but managed to leave the ring as a worthy winner.

With an innovative dual-camera setup for post-shot refocusing and G2-like screen-tap wake functionality, HTC has blended software smarts, speed and top-notch build quality to earn its champion stripes.

The G2 has moved down to second place, then, with the Nexus 5 still sitting pretty in third.

With the LG G3 and Samsung Galaxy S5 waiting in the wings, the M8 might have a short reign. Either way, you can colour us very excited indeed. Bring on the 2014 smartphone wars…
