However, gaming blogs have been set alight by rumours of a new version landing by the end of 2009. Based in a Tokyo–alike city, the new version will follow Vice City and San Andreas in being named after a fictional town rather than being dubbed GTA 5.
CVG points out that this is just gossip for now, but that Vice City followed GTA 3 in just a year. By the time the Tokyo–based edition hits the shelves, GTA IV would be 18 months old.
