The latest Google Maps 5.7 update for Android has brought with it a beta feature: Transit Navigation in over 400 cities across the globe. Using your device’s GPS powers the updated app can show your location as you travel along the rails and notify you when it’s time to get off – hopefully rendering mad panic-induced rushes for the beeping doors a thing of the past.
Other changes include improved driving and walking navigation options as well as a refreshed Navigation route setting UI. A photo viewer which lets you see what your destination looks like in advance is another handy addition, as are the improved search suggestions. Time to get updating.
