Garmin confirms Android phone plans

Garmin's already signed itself up to Google's Open Handset Alliance, but today the satnav folks have confirmed that they'll be releasing their very ow

Having delayed their first mobile, the much–vaunted nuvifone, it'd be easy to roll your eyes and chalk this one up for a 2010 release. However, Garmin says theit smartphone will be rearing its head at the same time. Sadly, that puts paid to any rumours of the nuvifone having Android under the hood, but with its mighty spec sheet, we're willing to let it slip.

The nuvifone will hit Taiwanese shelves first, with the Android phone going global. Sadly, they're keeping shctum about what we can expect, but we're betting it'll make the most of location based services and push Android's GPS dependent apps right to the fore.
