Future update will bring BlackBerry 10 OS to the PlayBook

RIM loyalists fear not, for your trusty tablet is slated for some future update goodness

Rob Orr, VP of product management at RIM, has confirmed to TechRadar that BlackBerry PlayBook owners can look forward to an update to the latest BlackBerry 10 OS, set to launch on new BlackBerry 10 devices later this year.

Although a specific date for the first rumoured BlackBerry 10 device –the BlackBerry London – has yet to be released, it’s nice to know that current PlayBook owners will be getting in on some tasty update action in the future.

We recently reviewed the updated PlayBook OS 2.0 here, and can also confirm from our source at RIM that native BBM integration is planned for a future PlayBook update. Whether or not we’ll have to wait till BlackBerry 10 for BBM integration remains to be seen, so watch this space for more info.
