Fujifilm instax SHARE SP-2: photo prints from your phone in 10 seconds flat

It’s another 21st century answer to the Polaroid

If you’re a dedicated smartphone photographer but want to show off your masterpiece snaps in the real world rather than on Facebook or Flickr, you’re going to want to print them. And if you want to do that quickly, Fujifilm’s latest instax printer might be right up your alley.

The instax SHARE SP-2 links wireless to your iOS or Android device (or a compatible Fujifilm camera), and via a Fujifilm app, will spit out a credit card-sized colour print of any photo on there in a mere 10 seconds. Photos are printed at an 800 x 600 resolution.

That may not sound particularly high in this age of 3840 x 2160 tellies, but because they’re physically small (just 62mm x 46mm) there’s actually a lot of detail there. And Fujifilm claims the new exposure system delivers stronger, punchier contrast than older instax printers.

The prints aren’t the only thing that’s tiny. The SP-2 itself is cleverly portable – not only does it weigh just 250g and is only 89.5 x 131.8 x 40mm in size, it runs off a rechargeable battery that delivers about 100 prints per charge. So you can bring it to parties for some Instamatic-style instamagic.

The instax SHARE SP-2 will be available from late August, priced at around £165 – a price which includes 10 shots of instax mini film.
