Before it was whipped away from me and put back into hiding (well an old cupboard) at T Mobile HQ, I managed to take these shots of the G1 with my N95. The phone is undoubtedly big, but apart from a massive bod', what are my first impressions? Well, here's a few brief ones.Android will be awesomeIt makes Symbian and WinMo look impossible by comparison and even the iPhone's OS look standard. Once Android Market opens, the phones will only get better - therein lies the beauty of open source. The G1 isn't an iPhone beaterBrilliant touchscreen aside, the G1 isn't up to giving the iPhone a hearty slap. But then that really isn't the point. This is all about Android and what that means for the future of mobile phones.Android Market will be every bit as good as the App StoreGoogle has taken everything it knows about YouTube and applied it to Android Market. Rating systems and free apps will mean that it'll give Apple's proprietary App Store plenty to think about.Ok, that's just a few things to chew over. Let us know what you think in the comments section and take a look at our hands-on video too. The G1 will also be in this week's vidcast so stay tuned.
