Apple iPhone OS 4.0 event this Thursday
It seems as though we’ll get to the bottom of those iPhone OS 4.0 multitasking rumours sooner than expected – Apple has announced it’ll be giving us a “sneak peek” at its new OS on Thursday
Arriving hot on the heels of the iPad launch last Saturday, the event is to be held at Apple’s Infinite Loop campus in Cupertino, promising attendees a look at the “future of the iPhone OS".
Multitasking is top of many people’s wishlist, and as we told you last week, sources are suggesting the feature will be implemented in a similar way to Mac OS X’s Expose, where hitting the home button twice will bring up a list of all the apps you currently have running.
Other features rumoured include a global mailbox view and the ability to put your favourite contacts on your homescreen.
It’s still unclear whether iPhone OS 4.0 would be ported onto the iPad, which runs a tweaked iPhone OS. We're keeping our fingers crossed it does – if multitasking is on the list of new additions, it could make the iPad a heck of a lot more appealing to many when it launches here towards the end of the month.
