Lenovo announces the IdeaPad A1

02 Sep 2011

Lenovo’s newly announced IdeaPad A1 won’t light any spec sheets on fire but it may be the perfect solution for budget-conscious tablet hunters. Honeycomb has been omitted for Android 2.3 Gingerbread, which is powered by a single-core 1GHz processor.

The 7in 1,024 x 600px display and 8/16/32GB storage options place it firmly in to portable movie player territory whilst GPS functionality and full Android marketplace accessibility are bonus features for a device with a starting price point of only US$199.

Front and rear cameras, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth tick off the connectivity and imaging boxes and a choice of black, white, pink or blue colour options for the magnesium alloy case round of the whole package rather nicely.

UK prices have yet to be announced, but we can’t imagine anything more than an asking price £200-250 for these specs.
