Exclusive – Samsung Galaxy S Player arrives tomorrow
In an age of superphones, the humble MP3 player has been left on the bench. Even with video skills, Wi-Fi, cameras and big shiny screens, the tide has ebbed since the days when we'd scream about them from the rooftops. And we often did. Well, sometimes.
Last summer, Samsung gave us an old-fashioned tickle with its Galaxy Player 50. And now it's doing it again. People who should know better at Samsung let slip to Stuff their plans to drop the Samsung Galaxy S Player (pictured) tomorrow morning.
And we've got full specs. Because although there's no written list of the Galaxy S Player's numbers and measurements, we've been told it's a carbon copy of the Galaxy S II, minus the GSM/3G radio.
For those of you not paying attention yesterday, that amounts to Android 2.3 (Gingerbread), a skinny sub-8.5mm form, 4.3in Super AMOLED Plus screen, 8MP cam with 1080p shooting, front-facing 2MP cam, Wi-Fi and a dual-core Hummingbird processor.
If you were on the lookout for a VoIP-only smartphone or if you're old-school enough to love a good dedicated PMP, this could be the most exciting breaking news you'll hear today. Otherwise, we hope at least it's given you a tickle.
